Why choose our Engineering Software?
Interested CAD designers and drafters often ask us:
“What is it that makes Mech-Q better suited for engineering drawings as compared to other products like Autodesk MEP or Inventor?”
With all the products available such as AutoCAD Plant, AutoCAD MEP and Inventor … its no wonder why this question frequently comes up.
We typically reply:
“what is it that you need to accomplish?” or “have your ever used MEP?“
While it’s difficult to compare the them all with our CAD Engineering Software, the broader scope of things can more easily explained by asking few important questions below:
When shopping for Mechanical Software ask:
- Is the software simple to learn and setup?
- Will I be able to easily share my drawings?
- Can I afford it the software and do I need all it has to offer?
Can I learn and use this software within a reasonable time?
There’s no question that both MEP and Inventor Professional are really impressive mechanical programs. But how many options you’ll need and the time to both learn and implement it is perhaps another question.
With endless amount of options within programs like MEP, there always a very steep learning curve that comes with it. Granted, if you have both a strong AutoCAD background and time to learn or the budget to train your staff, more the power to you!
But a recent email we received from long time mech-Q user Alan Mullin from Cheshire, UK … tells it all:
“We have proved over time and time again that we are more efficient drawing our 3D pipe systems using Mech-Q than with Autodesk’s Inventor… “
Mech-Q offers all the tools needed using a simple drawing interface. Easy to learn dialogs, prompt you for what to do next.
Can I manage and share my drawings easily?
One of the many issues that many AutoCAD users are confronted with, is how to easily both share and manage their drawings.
When using MEP for example, every fitting is attached to a database. Each object is proprierarty, so that only AutoCAD can read them. This means if you’re planing on sharing your drawings it with other non AutoCAD stations, it is likely you’ll soon run into a few snags.
In comparison when inserting a fitting inside Mech-Q, a regular drawing is created using native entities such as lines, arcs, solids ect.. The end result is that the DWG Files Mech-Q creates, can be shared by virtually anyone with CAD Station.
Additionally when an object is inserted into a drawing it can be tabulated by Mech-Q using the BOM option, but it can also be shared with co-workers as a plain DWG without any file loss.
Mech-Q is also well suited for both small and larger projects. Just like in a AutoCAD drawing, the limitations of what it can do are only confined by the the drawing size itself.
Can I even afford the software?
There are some offices just want the “whole enchilada” when it comes to engineering software. But the question to ask is: what’s do I need in order to get the job done? Do I need an endless amount of options that I may never even learn to use?
Mech-Q is a engineers toolbox filled with everything you will need for any Mechanical, Piping, Structural or Ducting project. Plus it’s software that you can combine within your existing CAD drawings.
At CADavenue we also understand that affordability is a number one issue for many companies now days. This is why we’ve recently introduced what’s called Easypay – a payment plan for companies on tightened budgets.
Our Engineering Software in brief …
Don’t get us wrong, MEP and other Autodesk products provide a slick interface for the user. Mech-Q just offers all the tools you’ll need to get the job done for a price just not found in other mechanical software.
The beauty of Mech-Q is that we’ve taken the work out of creating professional looking drawings. We have provided you an easy to understand workflow – it’s all laid out, right in front of you, so that you can stay on track with your project.
Best of all, it’s the kind of software you can jump right into without spending a huge amount of time trying to get up to speed. It’s designed to draw the way you draw. We recommend taking it for a test drive today. Please let us know what you think!
